When we arrived back at the dock I quickly ran back into our cottage to change, but when I came back out I realized that my pad had slipped out into the inner tube and was floating there for my mom's boyfriend to find. Well, we were getting ready to go tubing and all I had was a pad so I slipped it into my swimsuit thinking it would be alright for now in the water. I was at a lake with my mom and her boyfriend when my period started. He was like, "Eww, something is wet!" I wanted to die, and he ran out of the house. The thing is that he wrestled my bladder, and I peed my pants. Then he picked me up and jumped on top of me. I answered the door, and sure enough it was Chris (the guy I have liked forever). Once I was about to go into the bathroom when the doorbell rang and no one else was home. Whenever my brother isn't home, he usually comes in and we just sit and talk. Well, I have had this crush on this guy for the longest time, and the only reason we have never dated is because he is my brother's best friend and they have been forever. The guys from my grade picked it up and start running around with it! Worst of all, the older guys who have been crushing on me since last year were there, and so were the guys in my grade who I kinda liked! HOW BAD! -Riki A., Douglas, WY The next day at our last track meet, we were arranging all of our stuff when she pulled out my bra and waved it in front of the guys from Torrington and Douglas and all the people around. She was so humiliated, and I didn't want her to be so embarrassed so I gave her my extra sports bra I always keep in my P.E. One day my friend forgot to wear a bra to school. Forgetting all about my pants, I bent down to get it and my underwear was exposed to the whole class! I am still going out with my crush, but now he always calls me "teapots" or asks me "how are your teapots, honey?" From now on I always sit down Indian style, NO MATER WHAT! -Liz, NY Once I got up to the board, the chalk dropped. Later that day, my teacher asked me to come up and solve a math problem on the board. I squatted down to see it, and my pants ripped! That day, all my other underwear was in the wash so I was wearing a pair of underwear with teapots on them! I hid them pretty well all day, and no one noticed. My Flexees made sure I didn’t flash anyone on the way out.One day, my crush and his friend found what looked like a snake on the floor of the school hallway. Even during big kicks during “Footloose,” they stayed put without riding up, and as I left the reception to a huge gust of Buffalo, New York, wind, I didn’t even bother holding my dress down. The material forms to your body and moves with you, and I tested its limits when dancing for four hours at a wedding. The material is smooth, thin, and mostly made of nylon and elastic, so it stretches a lot to put them on, but stays put once you get the in place. The only seams on the whole thing are the cotton crotch patch - there’s really not a more eloquent way to say that - and the waistband. They make sure everything stays in place in my torso area and that my thighs don’t rub together. The completely seamless shorts feel like a light compression sock on a plane, or what I imagine it’s like when my puppy, Marshall, wears a ThunderShirt to calm his anxiety. Wearing them is like a gentle hug, not the strangling, sausage-casing feeling that I associate with shapewear. They work best for just-above-knee-length dresses and longer if you don’t want them to show, but they could also come in handy if you want to wear a miniskirt to work without being an HR violation.Įven though they’re labeled as shapewear, they don’t have the same intense pressure as, say, Spanx. I am five-one with a long torso and short legs, so these hit mid-thigh and rest around my natural waist. It’s a long name, but its specificity matters: the boy shorts and “thigh slimmers” from the same brand were too short and too long, respectively. It took me years to find Flexees by Maidenform’s Light Control Shorty Shapewear (they’re $8 on Walmart, and come in sizes S through XXL). I learned my lesson, and from that day forward, I’ve never worn a dress without Flexees shorts underneath them between May and September. “And that’s why you always wear shorts underneath your dress,” said the Arrested Development–style narrator in my head. I screamed and shuffled the rest of the way to my summer internship with my hands pinned to my sides, my cheeks the same color as my clothing. Wearing them is like a gentle hug, not the strangling, sausage-casing feeling that I associate with shapewear.ĭuring my first summer in New York, I walked out of the Times Square subway station and my bright-red dress blew up and exposed my underwear.
